Patient profile

A patient's demographic and contact details, including the fields the codice fiscale determines.

The profile is the first page of a patient’s record. It holds who the patient is — name, birth details, tax identifier, citizenship and residence — and how to reach them. It opens read-only; Edit profile puts the fields into edit mode, and Save patient data writes them back.

What you can do here

  • Read and edit the demographic details and the contact details.
  • Attach or remove tags, which drive the filters on patient records.
  • See whether the FSE identity is complete — an indicator tells you whether the fields the FSE needs are all present.
  • Restrict data processing, if you have that permission. This is a GDPR action with lasting consequences, described in the confirmation dialog.

The fields the codice fiscale decides

A codice fiscale already encodes the patient’s date of birth, sex, and place of birth. When you enter a valid one, Kairo decodes it and fills those three fields in for you, then locks them and marks them as auto-filled. They are not editable while the codice fiscale determines them, because a value disagreeing with the code would be rejected when you saved.

If the codice fiscale is cleared or changed so that it no longer decodes, the fields it filled are released again. Anything you typed by hand is left alone.

Not every patient has a codice fiscale. The tax identifier type can also be a partita IVA, a provisional codice fiscale, or an STP or ENI code. With those, nothing is decoded and the three fields stay editable.

When the name and the code disagree

Kairo compares the name you have typed against the name letters in the codice fiscale.

A surname that disagrees stops the save. A surname is a single field on the register, so a disagreement means one of the two is wrong, and FSE and Sistema TS are keyed to the legal identity.

A first name that disagrees only warns. The register encodes every given name a patient holds, run together — so a record carrying only the first of two given names will disagree with its own perfectly valid codice fiscale. If that is the case, enter all of them. You can save either way.
